Wii U's digital "eShop" might have one more game to count on, if the ESRB's database is any indication. A new registered listing indicates Jordan Mechner's Karateka remake, already announced for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, iOS and PC platforms, will be coming to Wii U as well.
First designed for the Apple II in 1984, Karateka is an adventure-based fighting game, pitting a lone martial artist against ancient warriors he encounters as he moves through different rooms in a fortress. The goal? Rescue the princess, of course.
Mechner, the creator of Prince of Persia, announced his intent to "remake and re-imagine" the game earlier this year, vowing to keep the spirit of the original alive. This new version of Karateka will still be dialogue-free, for example. Still Mechner has noted he'll try to find new ways to surprise players, going so far as changing the end of the game.
Karateka, which has not been publicly revealed, is currently scheduled to be released before the end of the year. The ESRB has rated the game 'T for Teen'.
We've reached out to Mechner to verify the accuracy of the ESRB's listing, and will update with more information as necessary.
