Capcom has revealed full details about ResidentEvil.net, a new online service that will launch alongside Resident Evil 6. While the service was announced last week, a new trailer shows off exactly what you can expect from the service, including comprehensive stat tracking that shows the numbers of enemies killed, which weapons you’ve used, how many medals you’ve earned and more. ResidentEvil.net will also link with Facebook and Twitter so you can compare stats with friends and share your progress.
Players will earn points that they can exchange for exclusive Mercenary costumes or figures, as well as organized events for ResidentEvil.net members where the Champion's Belt -- a special, one-of-a-kind reward -- can be earned. The Champion’s Belt can only be held by one player at a time, and players will need to defend it or be at risk of losing it. Events will include trying to defeat a set number of enemies or aiming for a high score in Mercenaries Mode. Sign-ups for ResidentEvil.net will be free, and the service will also be accessible from a smartphone app that will launch on iOS, Android and Windows phones and tablets.
Resident Evil 6 will launch on October 2nd for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC version will follow later. Capcom announced today that Resident Evil 6 "has officially gone gold and is secured for its October 2 release on Xbox 360 and PS3. In other words, the game is done!”
