If you're an avid follower of all things eSports, you probably know IGN Pro League (IPL) for its giant League of Legends and Starcraft II tournaments, and pro coverage and casting. Not to neglect shooter fans, IPL has added ShootMania Storm, Ubisoft’s upcoming PC online multiplayer first-person shooter, to its tournament line up.
IPL will host its first ShootMania Storm tournie this week at PAX Prime 2012, August 31-September 2, live from the Ubisoft booth each day of the show. IPL will live stream the ShootMania PAX tournament as well.
In case you haven't heard, ShootMania Storm is an old-school styled FPS with eSports sensibilities that draws inspiration from classic fastpaced fragfests like Unreal and Quake. The game is currently in beta phase and available for pre-order and early play on http://www.ShootMania.com. ShootMania Storm also supports myriad user-generated content, of which players have created more than 15 game modes and more than 20,000 maps.

The IGN Pro League has become a major contender in the North American eSports market since its launch in April 2011. Its last major tournament event drew in more than 10,000 spectators and logged a record-breaking 346,000 concurrent online viewers. With the IGN Pro League franchise, IGN's goal is to help legitimize video gaming as a profession that can produce the next generation of eSport athletes.
