Ubisoft has announced that Rayman Legends will be a Wii U exclusive. While the game has only been shown on Wii U, predecessor Rayman Origins was released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Vita, PC, Wii and is planned for 3DS, leading many to believe that Ubisoft would follow a similar strategy for the sequel. A new trailer confirms that this will not be the case, noting that Legends will be released this year “exclusively on Wii U.”
The European trailer comes from this week’s Gamescom conference and also states that Rayman Legends is set to arrive this Christmas, though it’s likely referring to the holiday window rather than December 25th specifically. At this time, Nintendo has not announced a release date for Wii U, though rumors suggest it will launch in November in the U.S. and December internationally.
Rayman Legends is the second Wii U exclusive from Ubisoft, joining ZombiU (though Ubisoft told IGN at E3 that ZombiU could eventually come to other platforms). Earlier today, Ubisoft also revealed that Just Dance 4 will receive exclusive songs on Wii U.
